Memoir, created by guest designer Jean Pelle, is an ode to the scenic landscapes of rural South Korea that fill many of her childhood memories. Prior to immigrating to the US with her parents and two brothers in 1982, Jean and her family lived in a small town surrounded by a lot of nature. Nearby were fruit farms and wet rice fields with hilly forests in the distance. The farms were run by families who they would visit on frequent walks throughout the countryside. During these walks her father would often take out his camera and have the children pose in a field of tall grasses or a thicket of pine trees for photographs. He compiled these photographs into albums that her family frequently looked back on when they moved to the States.
Jean created the landscape drawing for this collection using oil pastels, a medium that she often used as a child in South Korea. It is based on her father’s old photographs and reconstructed from her most vivid memories of a faraway home. The tall flower beds of pink and white cosmos that lined the walking paths, the swaying grassy green hills where she used to play, and the dense pine forests that she would wander into as a child envelope you in an expanse of rich textures cultivated by Jean’s memories.
Available in 6 different colorways.
Pricing starts at $750 per panel.
